Les Carroz half-term: Color Run & haunted rail luge, 31 Oct
The autumn half-term holidays are almost here (17 October to 2 November 2026), and two events stand out in Les Carroz d'Arâches: a colour run for Pink October on Sunday 18 October, and a rail luge turned into a haunted course on Saturday 31 October. Here are the times, prices and our tips for fitting them into your stay. For the rest of the programme, our guide to half-term activities covers the whole fortnight.
The Pink October Color Run: Sunday 18 October
This festive charity event takes place at the skatepark, route du Mont Favy. You run or walk while being sprayed with coloured powder, on a 5 km or 7 km course suitable for all levels.
- 9:00: free coffee at the welcome desk.
- 9:30: group warm-up.
- 10:00: race start.
Registration is €8 per participant, via the QR code on the poster or on site. Proceeds go to the Soroptimist association, which supports medical research and the well-being of breast cancer patients. Pets are welcome, and a friendly drink closes the morning. Good tip: Aquacîme admission is €5 after the race, a warm way to recover.
Peur sur la Luge: Saturday 31 October
On Halloween, the rail luge becomes a haunted course from 3 pm to 8 pm, weather permitting. Two versions follow each other:
- 3 pm to 6 pm: the family version, for younger children.
- 6 pm to 8 pm: the "terror" version, ages 14 and over.
- 8 pm: fireworks.
Expect €8 for an adult. The descent is 850 m and lasts about 5 minutes, after a 350 m climb, on a single or double sledge. From age 4 (minimum height 1.05 m) children must be accompanied; from age 9 (minimum 1.40 m) they can ride alone. Animals are not allowed, and sensitive people are advised to skip it. Drinks are available on site.
Planning your stay around the two dates
The Color Run falls on the second day of the holidays: arrive on Saturday 17 October and enjoy Sunday morning. For Halloween, choose the family version in the late afternoon with young children, and keep the terror version for teenagers and adults. Bring sturdy shoes and a warm jacket: at 1,140 m, October evenings are chilly.
Both events take place in Les Carroz itself, minutes from the apartment: the gondola is a 3-minute walk from the Lodge. Back home, the 45 m² south-facing terrace has the fire pit, and the optional wooden Nordic bath is perfect for warming up. For next-day walks, see our ideas for autumn holidays in the heart of nature.
Getting here: A40 exit 19, then about 15 minutes; Geneva is 50 minutes away (45 minutes from the airport). Clémentine's concierge service takes care of your welcome.
