Christmas skiing in Les Carroz 2026: opening dates & booking

In early October the golden larches are a reminder that snow is on its way. If you dream of a ski Christmas, now is the time: opening dates are published, the school holidays fall at a very specific moment, and apartments with a terrace book early. Here is what to know for Christmas 2026 in Les Carroz d'Arâches.

A phased opening, depending on snow

According to the Les Carroz tourist office, the Grand Massif opens in three stages:

• 5 to 11 December 2026: Flaine only, the highest resort in the area.
• 12 to 18 December: Flaine, Les Carroz and Samoëns.
• From 19 December 2026: the whole ski area, until 11 April 2027 for Les Carroz.

One important caveat: these dates are indicative and depend on snow conditions. They are not a contractual commitment, so keep some flexibility, especially for an arrival in the first half of December.

Christmas holidays: 19 December to 4 January

The 2026-2027 Christmas holidays are the same for French zones A, B and C: from Saturday 19 December 2026 to Monday 4 January 2027, with school resuming on the morning of the 4th. Conveniently, the start of the holidays coincides with the full opening of the ski area. The 265 km of slopes across the five resorts (Flaine, Les Carroz, Morillon, Samoëns, Sixt) are ready for families from the very first weekend.

Budget: the PROMO rate runs until 15 November

If you plan to ski several weeks this winter, compare the season pass with day tickets. The PREM'S rate ended on 30 September; the PROMO rate remains valid until 15 November 2026 (€732 for ages 26-74, €488 for ages 8-25), before the full price applies. Planning your arrival

• By road: A40 exit 19, then about 15 minutes to Les Carroz. Geneva is 50 minutes away (45 minutes from the airport). The first Saturday of the holidays is busy, so leave early or late. All our tips are in how to get to Les Carroz.
• Without a car: Léman Express (line L3) to Cluses, then the "Les Carroz Flaine Express" shuttle.
• On day one: pick up passes and equipment in the afternoon so you are ready when the lifts open the next morning.
