What to do in Les Carroz d'Arâches? The complete guide

Perched at 1,140 m between Geneva and Chamonix, Les Carroz d'Arâches is a village resort that has kept its Savoyard authenticity since 1936. Wooden chalets, generous sunshine and direct access to the Grand Massif: here is everything you need to plan your stay.

Winter: 265 km of slopes right from the resort

Les Carroz is part of the Grand Massif, France's 4th-largest linked ski area. Five connected resorts — Flaine, Les Carroz, Morillon, Samoëns and Sixt — offer 265 km of pistes, 139 runs for all levels and 62 lifts, from 720 to 2,500 m. The Carroz cable car, just a 3-minute walk from our apartment, gets you onto the snow in no time.

Beyond alpine skiing, the resort features a snowpark at the Oasis Cool Zone, a secured freeride area at Corbalanche, 7 marked snowshoe trails, cross-country skiing, an ice rink, a sledging slope at Bardelle (right opposite) and a rail sledge from Kédeuze.

Summer: hiking, mountain biking and wide open spaces

From spring, Les Carroz becomes a lush playground. Marked trails lead to mountain lakes such as Lac de l'Airon, or along the Pierre à Laya loop. Mountain bikers enjoy the bike park and downhill trails, while via ferrata, climbing, paragliding, treetop adventure, tennis and even an 18-hole golf course in Flaine round out the picture.

Savoyard cuisine reigns here. We warmly recommend Les Servages d'Armelle for refined dining in an old-wood chalet, Le Refuge 1110m for traditional specialities, or Bistro Grill du Gron with its lovely riverside terrace in summer. One tip for groceries: stock up at the Super U in Magland before heading up to the resort.

Unwind after the effort

After a day on the slopes or the trails, nothing beats a moment of relaxation. The Aquacime pool and wellness area features a pool heated to 32 °C. And back at the apartment, our wooden Nordic bath on the south-facing terrace offers a moment facing the pines that our guests never forget.
