Skiing the Grand Massif from Les Carroz: 265 km of slopes

If you're after a large linked ski area without the crowds of the mega-resorts, the Grand Massif is a safe bet. And Les Carroz d'Arâches is one of its finest gateways.

One of the largest ski areas in France

With 265 km of slopes, the Grand Massif ranks as the country's 4th-largest linked area. It brings together five resorts — Flaine, Les Carroz, Morillon, Samoëns and Sixt — with 139 runs: 13 black, 46 red, 60 blue and 20 green, served by 62 lifts. The area tops out at 2,500 m, with reliable snow cover on the Flaine heights.

Ski-in access from Les Carroz

The Carroz cable car is just a 3-minute walk from our apartment — one skibus stop away. It gives direct access to the area and the ski-in link to Flaine and the other resorts. Ski passes can be bought at the Tourist Office or online.

Our tips for reaching the slopes

A heated ski locker at the residence

Practical and often overlooked: our apartment has a secure ski locker on the ground floor, fitted with a boot dryer. You store skis and boots in the warm, without cluttering the apartment, and set off with dry boots every morning.
