MTB World Cup and Tour de l'Avenir near Les Carroz

August 2026 is shaping up to be a sporting month in the heart of the Grand Massif. Back to back, two events of international standing take place just minutes from Lodge Le Chamois: the Enduro Mountain Bike World Cup in Morillon, then the Tour de l'Avenir with a time trial starting in Les Carroz. The perfect chance to cheer at the roadside during your holiday.

Enduro MTB World Cup in Morillon (14-16 August)

From 14 to 16 August 2026, Morillon hosts a round of the UCI Enduro World Cup (WHOOP UCI Mountain Bike World Series) — the season's final enduro showdown. The world's best riders set off on timed special stages of wet roots, rocky sections and tight turns, with liaison sections winding towards Morillon, La Rivière-Enverse, Samoëns and Les Carroz. Around 250 professional riders and 350 amateurs are expected, and organisers are planning for close to 20,000 spectators, an event village, concerts and family activities.

Good news for our guests: one special stage passes through Les Carroz on 16 August. Spectators can watch the riders go by from the paragliding take-off or the Crêtes drag lift. This is already the second time Morillon has hosted the event, just fifteen minutes or so from the Lodge.

The Tour de l'Avenir: Les Carroz–Flaine time trial (24 August)

Nicknamed the "young riders' Tour de France", the Tour de l'Avenir gathers the world's best under-23 racers — a springboard that has revealed many future champions. For its 62nd edition, the race links Normandy to Italy over seven stages, from 20 to 26 August 2026.

And Les Carroz takes centre stage: Stage 5, on 24 August, is a mountain individual time trial starting in Les Carroz d'Arâches and heading to Flaine — 16 km with 760 m of climbing, via the Col de Pierre Carrée, finishing "gravel-style" in front of the Grandes Platières cable car. A spectacular, decisive format for the general classification, best followed from the village and along the climb.

Ideally located in Les Carroz at 1,140 m, the Lodge is a perfect base camp for these two sporting weekends.
